Though I almost couldn’t get into the flight because of visa issues,
case in which the forgotten American visa in my old passport saved my
flight, my arrival and first days stay in PAP have been
quite good. People is really kind, always willing to help you, at
least that’s the case in the guest house I´m staying in until Friday,
day in which I´ll move to my new home. The airport is
like a big garage, custom and baggage area are in the same place,
the professor I´m traveling with was surprised our luggage didn’t go
into the x-rays, well, there were no x-rays. Streets
are completely destroyed but it goes beyond the earthquake, I think
they haven’t been repaired since years, they are full of holes and
unless you have a big car it’s impossible to drive around.
Also it’s possible that after some time going around the streets of
PAP, you are going to end with a kidney problem.
On my way to the guest house from the airport I saw lots of street
vendors, what is interesting is that in a single corner you can find
everything you need, clothes, shampoo, bread and mangos.
Also you can find, as in Colombia, guys who sell you the charge for
you cell phone and they also have an apron that identifies from which
company they are. When we were coming to the guest house,
there was some music playing in the car, the driver told us the
singer is the current president of Haiti, as I arrived to the hotel I
searched for him on google and yes, his artistic name is
“Sweet Micky”, I leave you with one of his videos.
