Riding a moto-taxi
Yesterday was my my first night at the one is going to be my home
for the next 3 months. It’s a huge house, with a mango tree and swimming
pool. It’s located in an area called Vivy
Mitchell, which from what I understood is an upper-middle class
neighborhood and mostly inhabited my UN people. I arrived to my new
home in a moto taxi, I was so scared at the beginning,
well I guess I had the reasons to be, riding a motorcycle on PAP
streets with no helmet is not the safest thing you can do. At the end
everything went fine and I thanked I only took with me a
13kg bag pack; otherwise I don’t know how could I handle it. My
roommate is really nice, she is originally from the US but has been
nearly 20 years she doesn’t live there, she has been here for 2
years and speaks good creole. My other roommate is not in town; she
is from Bulgaria and is doing a PhD in anthropology. I must admit that
when I get inside the Vivy Mitchell area I found so
different form the PAP I had seen so far, here is like being outside
reality, is another world. One thing I must admit I like is the 24/7
access to mango tree, as now they are on season I can
have them whenever I want. Yesterday, we also went for dinner to a
place in Petion Ville area called Harry’s, was sort of local, and we had
the cabrit with “banana frite”, with some acras as an
entry. I cannot complain about food, so far has been quite good.
